There were a number of well-known and prolific artists that made their home in the greater Pasadena area. Many migrated from the mid-west or the east coast, drawn by the spectacular beauty, wonderful weather and the expanding art colonies. Some, such as Walt Lee, grew up in Pasadena. Walt, in fact, was raised on a farm right by Lake Ave. There is a good chance that our current gallery is located on the land where he would have raised chickens and tended cows!
Orrin White, the painting of the Mexican church seen here is one of his, was also a Pasadena resident and painted many splendid and colorful paintings of the area mountains and in particular its canyons. While much of our city has been paved over and built up, one can still see the incredible natural beauty around us that inspired so many of these local artists.
