Our primary focus is on Vintage California painters and watercolorists from the late Nineteenth Century and the first half of the Twentieth. The warmth, strength and rich colors of their art have captured the eyes and hearts of collectors, art investors and appreciative individuals alike.
Artists in California were drawn to the natural beauty of our state from the earliest days of Hispanic rule and the Mission network. However it was the gold rush and the subsequent boom in the 1850’s that truly gave birth to a California School of Art. During the latter half of the Nineteenth Century many classically trained artists migrated to the West Coast, San Francisco in particular, to capture the unique landscapes and multi-cultural spirit of the West. With the introduction of the Impressionism many of these artists left their studios with their “Plein Air” easels to paint and a world of bold colors and vibrant landscapes was born.
